The boys of Alice Soccer headed south to play the Evansville North Huskies. We fell just short to the Huskies in a tightly contested 0-2 match. Evansville North is always a program that has college level players and the boys went in to battle. Defensively they held up incredibly, winning the majority of the balls in the air, and defending corner kicks and free kicks as well as anyone can. A debatable offside call in the first half unfortunately lead to the first goal for North. The Alices played the remainder of the half well and continued that on into the second half. Late in the match a handball lead to an Evansville North penalty kick. Notably seniors, Cannon McCallister and Paxton Smith, impressed in the match. McCallister, taking home the Man of the Match honor, played incredibly well as a center back alongside junior, Carson Heiden. Smith dazzled between the posts shining with a number of truly incredible saves. Smith closed with 12 saves, most coming in the first half as the defense gave North very little opportunities in the second half. Further stats show shots from our midfield and striker crew of Ian Lancaster, David Ramirez, Gera Silva, amongst others. The boys showed incredible fight and determination and will continue that into our next game, a home game against Bloomfield, on Monday at 5:00 PM, at the Alice Soccer Pitch.
